Spectacular Hand Decorated Stoneware Teapot

Presentation Blue and White Stoneware Teapot
                                                by Steve & Karen Stone

Unquestionably coming out of one of the early Ohio potteries, this spectacular stoneware teapot was probably created as a wedding gift. More than likely it is lunch hour piece and hand-decorated from top to bottom. Framing the incised names on each side are boughs of flowers. Dots and stripes accent the rim and handle. The matching lid has the dots on the edge of the base and knob, and more flowers in the middle. As the bottom indicates, it was most likely made by "Clyde," and as incised on the sides, it was made for "Mary" and "John." The bottom of the lid indicates the date was 1898. Seven inches tall to the top of the teapot proper.
This uniquely decorated presentation teapot is stoneware rather than china and truly one of a kind! We are all enriched that it has survived well into this, it’s second century.
